Excuses? Stop it!

How often do you hear people make excuses? “I want to but I can’t… I don’t have the money… I don’t have the time… I don’t have the patience…” When you hear these excuses, do you get annoyed? Do you relate? Do you feel good? Bad? What comes up for you?

Do you make excuses for doing or not doing something? If so, how often do you make excuses? What do you make excuses for in your life? Why do you make excuses for one thing but not another? How much do the excuses you make negatively impact your life? Do the excuses you make positively impact your life? How often do you jeopardize your own health and wellness because you make excuses for your actions?

It’s important to point out that making excuses simply hold you back, wouldn’t you agree? But more importantly, what are the excuses holding you back from? Are you even aware of what you’re cut off from because of the excuses to make? Lots of us think problems are within our awareness. But it’s the problems that we don’t even think to think about that are the biggest problems we face. And we don’t even know they’re there because we haven’t thought to think about them yet.

Lots of times, you hear people say, “Oh, I’ll just start tomorrow or next week.” These types of excuses are the worst! How many times do you say those words and tomorrow or next week just never seem to arrive? You ultimately end up procrastinating and never even starting, let alone complete it. Excuses are poisonous. They keep you stuck and craving for a solution. But you can’t come to a solution because you keep making whatever excuse you make. It’s an endless, vicious cycle of getting nowhere. What are you denying yourself when you push things back a day or week? How is this mindset holding you back?

Well it’s time to stop making excuses. It’s time to take ownership of your life. Your excuses are keeping you where you’re at. And since you’re interested in improving your health and/or any other area of your life, then excuses are something that you are going to have to eliminate from your life. 100%.

Excuses can show up in the form of a way of comfort for us which is why it may seem like a difficult thing to do. But I’m going to suggest to you that you think about this in a different way than you have been thinking about it. I want you to imagine how much more enjoyable your life will be, knowing that you’re living your life fully and totally enjoying it? If this is the case for you, then there would be no need to make excuses, right? A life without making excuses… How amazing would that be? Nothing could stop you. You would be in charge of everything in your life that comes your way. No matter who is in your life and no matter what happens because YOU are the one in charge.

Wouldn’t it be important for you to recognize that you can gain the awareness and the ability to stop making excuses you make? And wouldn’t it also be important for you to simply and easily recognize that you can learn how to become aware of certain aspects of your life that you didn’t even think to consider? Because it might interest you to know that it’s 100% possible to stop making excuses, take action on what you want, and get everything you want out of life. Not only is it possible. It’s realistic and fun.

So how do you stop making excuses? Well first, you must recognize what it is that you are making excuses for in the first place. Then, you must ask yourself what behavior you’d like to do instead. And third, what would this new behavior do for you? What would allow you to do, be, or have?

After you discover this for yourself, ask yourself what is the excuse you’re currently making for NOT doing that behavior allowing you to do, be, or have? What’s important to you about making this excuse? Believe it or not, there is a positive intention for your excuse. There is a positive intention for everything that you do/don’t do. You just may not be aware of it. And that’s ok. Becoming aware of things you weren’t aware of before is how you learn and grow. So what is making this excuse doing for you?

Notice the answer to what the new behavior would provide for you and what the excuse provides for you. And imagine those two answers integrating into one answer. One that energizes, motivates and inspires you to take action.

You’ll feel it deep within you and your excuses will disappear. In fact, you won’t even think about making excuses because you’ll already be taking action on what you desire.
